Dan Newman, a graduate of the Center for Innovation’s Runway program, is taking an exciting next step with his startup, Sharp Biomedical, which has successfully closed its pre-seed funding round led by gener8tor 1889, a North Dakota venture capital fund.
Sharp Biomedical develops medical devices designed to make spine care more accessible in outpatient pain clinics. The company focuses on creating safe, streamlined, manual procedures that help physicians treat patients experiencing early-to-mid-stage chronic pain without relying on extensive hospital infrastructure or complex technology.
The newly secured funding will support the development and testing of Sharp Biomedical’s first implant and purpose-built toolset, bringing the company closer to the commercial launch of its first procedure designed specifically for outpatient settings.
A Milestone for a Runway Graduate
The Runway program provides entrepreneurs with hands-on training, mentorship and support to move their business ideas forward. Newman’s progress with Sharp Biomedical highlights the exciting milestones entrepreneurs can reach as they develop and grow their startups.
“We’re looking forward to this next chapter. CFI and the Runway program provided useful structure in our early days, offering a consistent weekly format to stress-test our concept and refine our initial plan as we got moving.” – Dan Newman
Congratulations to Dan and the Sharp Biomedical team on this achievement!
