Scholarship Application Forms

Robert & Myrna Kuk Entrepreneur Scholarship

Each semester an award of $900 is given to a UND undergraduate student who is studying entrepreneurship or new business formation with the goal to start, own or manage his/her own business. The applicant needs to be an undergraduate, a resident of North Dakota and have a financial need.  Bob Kuk (UND '65), a recently retired venture capitalist in St Louis, and a native of Bantry, ND, His wife Myrna is from Willow City, ND - both cities in north central North Dakota. Since 1980, Kuk has served as a cofounder and general partner of three highly regarded venture capital funds: R. W. Allsop & Associates, L.P., R. W. Allsop & Associates II, Limited Partnership, and Allsop Venture Partners III, L.P. These three venture capital funds were capitalized with in excess of $105 million, and the funds were invested in eighty-three growth companies.  Bob and Myrna Kuk established the scholarship in 1999.

Michael Marcil Entrepreneur Scholarship

Each spring semester an award of $500 is available to a qualified student entrepreneur. Preference will be given to those entrepreneur students who are involved in entrepreneur activities at UND and who have demonstrated the initiative, creativity and desire to be a successful entrepreneur in an increasingly competitive business world.  The donor, Mike Marcil (UND '93), is a native of Fargo who has been an entrepreneur since he graduated from UND. Marcil brings over 18 years of experience building successful and innovative business ventures in Silicon Valley (California) and North Dakota.  Marcil is  President and CEO of the Marcil Group which is involved with several estate developments that comprised of hundreds of commercial and residential units in Arizona, California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nebraska North Dakota and South Dakota.  The Scholarship was established in 2003.

Art Rosenberg Entrepreneur Finance Scholarship

Each fall semester an award of $500 is available to a qualified student entrepreneur. Preference will be given to those entrepreneur students who are involved in entrepreneur activities at UND and who have demonstrated the initiative, creativity and desire to be a successful entrepreneur in an increasingly competitive business world. The donor, Art Rosenberg (UND '90), is President of Renaissance Ventures, a regional venture capital fund. He also founded Davinci Management Group, a business finance consulting firm, which recently merged with Marcil Group. Rosenberg currently serves on the board or advisor to Convexity, Linkup, Feed Management Systems, Composite America and serves on the advisory board of the UND Center for Innovation. He has also worked as Chief of Staff and Legislative Assistant for North Dakota House Majority Leader John Dorso and has been involved in passing several key pieces of economic development legislation in North Dakota. Rosenberg has also worked for Economic Develop Corproations as a Director in New Mexico and a Deputy Director in Michigan. The Scholarship was established in 2007.

St John's Capital Group Entrepreneur Finance Scholarship

Each semester an award of $500 is available to a UND undergraduate or graduate study who is studying entrepreneurship with an interest in working in the intersections of entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, venture capital and investment banking. The student must have at minimum 30 credit hours. Favorable consideration shall be given to UND students who are involved in equity capital, entrepreneurial and innovation activities and who have demonstrated the initiative, creativity, and desire to be a successful entrepreneur in an increasingly competitive business world. This may include students who are studying entrepreneur finance, entrepreneurship, subjects related to entrepreneurship, product innovation, or who are involved in entrepreneur endeavors outside of the classroom. The donor, Edwin R. Yeh, is a founder and managing director of St John’s Capital Group. He also has experience in venture capital and angel investing. St. John's Capital Group specializes in fund management and business advisory services. The Partners are venture capitalists and investment bankers with entrepreneurial and operational backgrounds. They provide investors with high yield fixed income investments that are secured by strong business, financial and real-estate holdings. The St. John's Capital Group Entrepreneur Finance Scholarship was established in 2007.

Jack Wright Entrepreneur Award

Each semester an award of $1000 is given to a UND undergraduate student who demonstrates leadership in private ventures or entrepreneurship. Has a job while attending to UND in a private business with the primary reason to fund their college education.  Donor wishes to reward innovation, creativity and initiative, recognizing the entrepreneur spirit of Jack Wright.  Consideration may be given to the student entrepreneur with the best business plan.  Jack Wright, PhD (UND '42) established this scholarship in 1992 to recognize his entrepreneurial father who operated a restaurant in Casselton, ND which he started at age 16. Jack worked his way through college working for private companies, and became a professor at marketing at Georgia State University.
