Seminar 1: Due Diligence (DD) - effective due diligence is one of the most critical steps in successful angel investing. This drill-down workshop takes the angel investor through the key issues which will determine major risk factors and deal breakers. The workshop emphasizes what must be confirmed, the cost of confirming, and the risk of not knowing. Participants learn what it takes to validate the plan and to define and contain the risk of investment. This is for angel investors who have previously completed the full-day seminar on the Power of Angel Investing. Attendees will participate in breakout sessions and develop due diligence checklists as a case study exercise. A customized workbook will be provided to each participant with copies of all presentations, substantial resource materials, a standardized term sheet, a comprehensive glossary, bios on each faculty member and a profile of each sponsor.
Seminar 2: Valuation & Portfolio Strategy (VPS ) is for angel investors who are interested in learning more about establishing a pre-money valuation for seed/startup companies, how follow on funding may dilute valuations, the importance of the company scalability to angel investors , and the critical parameters for a successful angel portfolio strategy. Items will be covered like how to make angel-entrepreneur negotiations less contentious, using rules of thumb when crafting and measuring portfolios, and learning insights from effective portfolio strategies by exploring data. A customized workbook will be provided to each participant that includes presentation content, slides, and exercise worksheets.
