Five for Friday – Travis Fretheim

Travis Fretheim, the Technology Operations Manager at CFI, was asked to answer five questions about his position at CFI and about himself.

What is your role at the Center for Innovation?

I help tenants locate the space, give tours, set up agreements, expand office space, and remove office space. I also manage the technology in the building for the tenants, staff, and meeting rooms.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite parts are working with the companies. Each company is unique and in a different place in its journey to success. I like solving problems with the companies and learning about what the companies are working on.

What value does the Center for Innovation provide to the UND campus, Grand Forks community, and the state of North Dakota?

CFI’s value is an ecosystem that includes faculty, staff, inventors, entrepreneurs, mentors, students, CFI Staff, programs, and facilities. The outputs are jobs, capital, revenue, ideas, and networking from those inputs.

What expertise/experiences do you bring to your CFI clients?

I bring knowledge in technology and operations. I help companies navigate situations when decisions are made in these areas. I try to ask questions that help them think through these situations.

What can others find you doing when you are not working at CFI?

I spend my free time fishing, golfing, attending car shows, doing home projects, and spending time with friends.
