SBIR/STTR Funding Proposal Writing Workshop to be held in Grand Forks

August 16, 2011

North Dakota Entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to participate in a FREE SBIR/STTR (Small Business Innovation Research & Small Business Technology Transfer) Proposal Writing Workshop facilitated by Jim and Gail Greenwood from Sanibel Island, Florida. It will be offered to those who need help writing a winning SBIR/STTR proposal. The Greenwoods have extensive knowledge of each agency’s programs and proposal requirements.

The SBIR/STTR Proposal Writing Workshop will take place in the Idea Lab at the University of North Dakota Center for Innovation in Grand Forks, ND on September 27-28, 2011.

The Federal SBIR/STTR Program funded more than $2.3 billion in early-stage R&D projects at small, high technology firms in the year 2009. Since the program began, North Dakota’s had 123 proposals funded for a total of $24,914,110 invested. The projects funded will have the potential for commercialization in private and government sector markets. Small businesses and individual entrepreneurs seeking to start a small business are eligible to apply for these funds. The purpose of this program is to create new technologies that offer solutions to the nation’s most pressing scientific and engineering problems.

“This is a great opportunity for North Dakota entrepreneurs and researchers to access capital that otherwise may be difficult to obtain,” said Eric Veidel, North Dakota SBIR/STTR Director. “It will give North Dakota researchers and entrepreneurs a chance to network and learn what the Center for Innovation can offer them in the way of services or incubator space. It also shows that there are resources in ND committed to increasing the amount of Federal funding that comes to the states businesses, and the amount of awards that are invested in our entrepreneurs,” Veidel added.

The SBIR Workshop will be held at the Idea Lab at the UND Center for Innovation on September 27th-28th 2011. Register by emailing sbir@innovators.net and write SBIR workshop in the subject line. An agenda is included at the bottom, lunch will be provided. Include your name, phone number, address, participants/organization, days attending, and food/allergy requests.
