Meridian
Environmental Technology, Inc.
- Meridian Environmental Technology, Inc. (Meridian) is
a recent graduate of the Rural Technology Incubator. Meridian
designs, develops, and distributes weather and environmental
information
and information technology to support end user applications.
Meridian utilizes the latest in information technology involving
Internet product delivery, advanced computer processing
and programming platforms, and leading-edge weather and
geographical information systems technology. Meridian was
located in the Rural Technology Incubator from 1996 to 2003,
when they graduated from the incubator into their own building
located in the University Technology Park. Since 1998, Meridian
has been the nation’s leader in providing en-route,

Micorobeam
Technologies Incroperated
-
Micorobeam Technologies Incorporated,
a spin-off company from the Energy & Environmental
Research Center, offers a wide range of inorganic services
that are focused on solving
problems for the coal-fired industry and addressing materials
issues for other industries. The mission of MTI is to
perform service analysis, x-ray diffraction, and x-ray
fluorescence. MTI’s primary area of expertise is
in the use of scanning electron microscopy/microprobe
(SEM) techniques to determine mechanisms of formation
and to predict ash-related problems in coal utilization
systems. Specific applications of the analysis include
assessment of fireside slagging and fouling of heat transfer
surfaces, corrosion and erosion of boiler parts, slag
flow behavior in cyclone-fired boilers, and small particle
sizing and typing. Types of samples characterized include
coals and other solid fuels, metals, ceramics, particles,
ash, slag and deposits, and coal.
AgriData Incorporated
- In 1991, David Hagert was a full-time farmer with a part-time
passion. He had developed a new farm management software
program called Field Facts, and he was excited to put it
to work. In order to pursue the marketing of Field Facts
in earnest, Hagert created AgriData
Incorporated.
He adopted the slogan "Bringing precision farming down
to earth," and set about building a successful ag software
company in Grand Forks, North Dakota. AgriData has grown
dramatically and expanded its software offerings considerably.
While the company's early focus was on the use of Global
Positioning Systems, more recent products are based on land-coordinate-based
Geographical Information Systems. Specifically, AgriData
introduced Surety™ a software application which translates
the once dense and confusing paperwork of the crop insurance
industry into easy to understand maps and graphics.
